Cesar-Kai Academy & The MAX of Cranford have a "Shocking" addition!

When choosing a healthclub for yourself, or a Martial Arts academy for your child, there is more to consider than price and location. Perhaps the most important decision should be safety! Today, the Cesar-Kai Academy & MAX of Cranford became one of the safest places in the area!

Mario Cesario is the owner of this establishment and contacted www.LearnCPR.me recently. He made the decision to have his entire staff (and some of his customers) trained in CPR, use of an AED, choking relief, basic first aid, and Epi-Pen administration for allergic reactions. Mario also purchased an Automatic External Defibrillator or AED, in which his staff is certified to use at a moments notice if needed!

Commotio Cordis refers to the sudden death caused by a low/mild chest wall impact. Commotio Cordis is seen mostly in athletes between the ages of 8 and 18 who are partaking in sports with projectiles such as baseballs & hockey pucks, and contact sports with punches and kicks. These projectiles can strike the athletes in the middle of the chest with a low impact but enough to cause the heart to enter an arrhythmia. Martial arts is a sport in which a strike of a hand can also cause the heart to change it’s rhythm. Without immediate CPR and defibrillation the prognosis of commotio cordis is not very good. This condition is extremely dangerous with rare survival.

Automated External Defibrillators or AED's can increase the survival rate of Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA) and Commotio Cordis by 75% if used within 5 minutes of onset. Each year, 326,200 people in the U.S. experience SCA, and nine out of 10 victims die. This is roughly equivalent to the number of people who die from Alzheimers’ disease, assault with firearms, breast cancer, cervical cancer, colorectal cancer, diabetes, HIV, house fires, motor vehicle accidents, prostate cancer and suicides combined. In fact, the incidence of sudden cardiac death is nearly 10 times higher than the incidence of death from breast cancer.

Faster and easier access to AED's will change this statistic! Less than 10% of martial arts studios in the United States currently have AED's, which is unacceptable. www.LearnCPR.me has developed a Public Access Defibrillator Program to help make AED's available to the public in places where SCA is most likely to occur. This includes places where AED's are not currently required by law, but pose the greatest risk of SCA occurence.

Mario's decision to train his staff and have an AED will mean the difference between life and death for someone if an emergency should happen, and EMERGENCIES DO HAPPEN! Cesar-Kai Academy in Cranford is definately a better choice for martial arts compared to others who are untrained and unprepared! Stop by and visit, and you will see what sets them apart from the rest! We applaud you for your dedication to safety and emergency preparedness!
